COMMISSIONED COMPOSITION 2011 – MYANMAR MEETS EUROPE

This year will we will tweak the idea of the commissioned composition a little. The music will not be created at the piano, or in the studio of a single musician, but in the organic creative exchange between two continents. ‘Myanmar Meets Europe’ is the name of the project, in which musicians from south-east-Asian countries as well as artists from Italy, France and Germany will take part. It will not just be a meeting of different musical traditions and instruments; it will also be the joint interpretation of traditional songs and new compositions from the respective cultures.

The exchange will intensify during a phase of concentrated rehearsals in Duisburg, and culminate in the ‘Myanmar Meets Europe’ concert on the 3rd of July at 8:15 pm (20:15h).
